Skiing Near Canmore

Four World-Class Ski Areas Within Reach

Canmore sits at the crossroads of some of the best skiing in the Canadian Rockies. With Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, Mount Norquay, and the Canmore Nordic Centre all within easy driving distance, you can ski a different mountain every day. Canmore Rocky Mountain Inn offers a quieter, more affordable base than staying in Banff or at the resorts, with the same easy access to the slopes.

Sunshine Village & Lake Louise

Sunshine Village, about 30 minutes from Canmore, is famous for its natural snow, long season (often running into late May), and stunning above-treeline terrain. With over 3,300 acres of skiable terrain across three mountains, it suits all levels from beginner to expert. Lake Louise Ski Resort, roughly an hour's drive, is one of the largest ski areas in North America. Its dramatic scenery, varied terrain, and uncrowded runs make it a bucket-list destination for skiers worldwide.

Norquay & Nordic Skiing

Mount Norquay is Banff's original ski hill, just 20 minutes from Canmore. It's the perfect spot for a quick half-day on the slopes, with excellent night skiing and a more intimate, local feel. For cross-country enthusiasts, the Canmore Nordic Centre is right in town. Built for the 1988 Winter Olympics, it offers world-class groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing, plus fat biking in winter. After a day on the mountain or trails, guests appreciate returning to the calm comfort of Canmore Rocky Mountain Inn.
